What are your contributions to the team?

  • Support data quality, catalog, and stewardship projects
  • Gather and document data definitions and standards from business teams
  • Help maintain the enterprise data glossary and data lineage
  • Work with IT and business teams to apply data governance in projects
  • Assist with data quality checks and reporting
  • Improve data governance processes and tools
  • Track activities and issues using project management tools.

 

During your internship, you will learn:

  • Core data governance concepts (Data quality, metadata, stewardship)
  • How to use data governance tools (catalogs, quality tools)
  • Basics of data lineage and lifecycle management
  • Translating business needs into governance policies
  • Communicating with business and IT teams
  • Data governance’s role in compliance and analytics
  • The importance of metadata and data governance in enabling artificial intelligence
  • Best practices for documenting data assets.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You are enrolled in an undergraduate (final year) or graduate university program in computer science, engineering, or other applied science programs
  • You are interested in learning about data management and governance
  • You have strong analytical and organizational skills
  • You are an expert user of Excel and PowerPoint
  • You are a problem-solver and a solution proposer
  • You have knowledge of data catalog and Data Management tools would be an asset
  • You are bilingual and can communicate (speaking) in French and English with both technical and non-technical people.

It is important to note that our internship opportunities are open to students only, not new graduates. All our interns may be required to occasionally travel outside of Canada for training/work purpose.
