During your internship, you will contribute to:
- Monitor Senate and House of Commons committee activities; compile and deliver weekly summaries highlighting key updates and implications.
- Maintain a comprehensive stakeholder contact list and association membership database.
- Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards to track engagement metrics and policy outcomes.
- Produce monthly and quarterly reports on stakeholder activity and engagement results.
- Improve integration between Power BI, Outlook, and SharePoint for streamlined reporting.
- Source and summarize media and AI-generated insights on relevant policy topics twice weekly.
- Maintain and organize SharePoint archives for government affairs documentation.
During your internship, you will learn:
- Gain insight into federal legislative processes and policy trends.
- Obtain hands-on experience in stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Develop skills in data visualization, stakeholder mapping, and strategic communications.
- Learn to manage multiple platforms (Power BI, Outlook, SharePoint) in a corporate setting.
- Work closely with experienced Government Affairs Advisor on high-impact files.
What we are looking for:
- Enrolled in a university program in political science, public administration, international relations, communications, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian political system and public policy landscape.
- Experience in research, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Familiarity with tools like Power BI, SharePoint, Outlook, and Asana is a plus.
- Experience with social media monitoring is an asset.
- Note that this internship is in Ottawa, Ontario.
