What are your contributions to the team?
- Plan and oversee the activities and management of a team of approximately 25 unionized employees.
- Be responsible for the operational processes within your area by achieving and monitoring production targets.
- Manage your group's budgets and ensure product quality.
- Resolve issues efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Maintain communication with other departments regarding any issues related to your area of responsibility.
- Drive continuous improvement by using Bombardier’s Achieving Excellence standards (Problem-Solving Process (PSS), Kaizen, Compass).
- Ensure employee training and evaluate their performance and development.
- Ensure the maintenance and monitoring of compliance for the fleet of heavy and light vehicles under the manager’s responsibility.
- Promote adherence to PECVL standards regarding driving behavior, safety, vehicle inspections, and record keeping.
- Maintain up-to-date daily KPIs, PCS boards, and weekly Health & Safety reviews (HSE walkthroughs).
- Promote workplace Health and Safety and raise employee awareness of critical risks, while actively participating in the Local Health and Safety Committee (LHSC).
- Encourage and initiate improvement projects and problem-solving initiatives using deployed management tools (PSS, Kaizen, Compass).
- Foster a respectful and positive work environment with unionized employees, internal and external customers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Be able to manage and de-escalate labor relations conflicts when necessary while maintaining a neutral and respectful workplace atmosphere.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with the union representatives and Human Resources.
- Demonstrate leadership while upholding Bombardier’s vision and values.
- Coach your team to develop talent within the organization.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a degree in Operations Management, Production Management, Engineering, or a related field (aerospace experience is considered an asset).
- You have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role within a unionized manufacturing environment.
- You possess strong planning and organizational skills to ensure objectives and results are achieved.
- You demonstrate management courage when leading and managing employees.
- You have the interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, all levels of management, and other departments.
- You thrive in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
- You are proficient in French (bilingualism is considered an asset).
- You are flexible and willing to work other shifts as required.
