Are you a formally trained Industrial Designer with a passion for aviation or transportation design? Do you have strong conceptualization skills and are able to articulate your vision using 2D and 3D design tools? Are you a creative problem solver with hands-on experience in prototyping? We are looking for a creative and passionate Manager of Industrial Design to join our team. A team that has been responsible for multiple award-winning cabin designs, including:

In your role, you will

 

•    Manage a team of highly motivated and talented industrial designers 
•    Represent the industrial design team in presenting concepts to senior management and other stakeholders
•    Be responsible for industrial design function in the complete design and development process
•    Conduct in-depth research that will inform innovative and varied concept generation, ranging from cabin floorplans to detailed design
•    Combine technical requirements and form-giving in collaboration with other teams: engineering, marketing, and interior design
•    Lead the team responsible for sketching, conceptualizing and visualization in 2D, 3D (Rhinoceros, Alias, V-Ray and Keyshot are the primary tools)
•    Mock-up and prototype to various scales in variety of materials and technologies
•    Support the interior design team in the development of materials, and finishes throughout the aircraft cabin
•    Investigate innovative manufacturing processes, materials, finishes, cabin hardware and accessories
•    Collaborate in the testing and prototyping of these materials and processes
 

As our ideal candidate

 

•    You possess a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or equivalent experience
•    You have a minimum of eight (8) years design experience (Transportation Design is an asset), including a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a management role 
•    You have a passion for aviation, particularly business aircraft and emerging technologies
•    You have good knowledge of the following applications and softwares: 3D surface modelling (Rhinoceros and/or Alias) ADOBE suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), 3D rendering and lighting in V-Ray and/or Keyshot, AutoCAD, Catia V5, 3dsMax software
•    You have a portfolio that demonstrates your full design skillset: sketch, illustration, color and graphic design, presentation sensitivity, CAD modelling and rendering
•    You are motivated by challenges and have a drive for results, bringing a strong technical aptitude, knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a good overall problem-solving approach
•    You are flexible and creative in removing roadblocks and looking for creative ways to overcome challenges, and can maintain a strong design vision through long-term projects
•    You have the ability to present complex ideas to a senior audience in a compelling manner, and are also capable of presenting products to a refined, distinguished audience, such as business aircraft customers
•    You are able to manage initiatives of a technical, financial, marketing and general business nature
•    You have strong corporate agility, strong soft skills, credibility, and the persuasiveness required to influence decisions without having formal authority
•    You can summarize multifaceted situations concisely and emphasize the significant elements and take-aways
•    You have strong business & financial acumen, a strategic mindset, and easily switch between micro and big picture view
•    You have strong oral and written English communications skills. Functional French communication skills are required.
