Aircraft Level Systems Engineering Professional, Requirements Engineering
As a systems engineering professional within the Product Integration (aircraft architecture) team, you will support and facilitate requirements capture, analysis and verification and validation activities for aircraft and aircraft systems development in accordance with ARP4754 principles and company processes. Working with architects, integrators and senior stakeholders as a requirements management analyst you will play a key part in ensuring that aircraft and system requirements are clear, consistent, traceable, verifiable and properly managed throughout the entire development lifecycle, thus enabling robust development assurance, change control and certification compliance evidence.
You will support various teams in new aircraft programs and may also be called upon to support new team members for requirements authoring and/or for familiarization with Teamcenter requirements management tools. You will also contribute to further advancing Bombardier’s requirements engineering practices, which may include the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Manage requirements specifications for assigned work scope from elicitation to verification.
- Prepare for and obtain validation of requirements by architects, discipline owners, and required technical subject matter experts.
- Ensure correctness and completeness of requirements and adherence to Bombardier’s internal requirements quality standards.
- Ensure requirements traceability top-down and bottom-up throughout the requirements specification architecture.
- Produce requirements traceability matrices and completeness evidence.
- Support configuration management team with requirements baseline control and change impact assessment.
- Support the planning, execution and monitoring of requirements engineering activities for assigned work scope.
- Support discipline teams with the preparation and planning of requirement verification activities, ensuring verification artifacts are captured and traceable to the requirements.
- Facilitate and propose requirement changes as they arise and support change board and design review activities as requested.
- Support training and onboarding activities for new team members working in requirements engineering.
- Contribute to advancing Bombardier’s requirements engineering practices.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a Bachelor’s in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering, or a related field, ideally complemented by formal training in Systems Engineering.
- You have 5+ years of relevant experience in Requirements Engineering or Systems Engineering in a product development environment. Experience in an aircraft technical engineering domain – such as mechanical or electrical systems, structures or aerodynamics – is a strong asset.
- You have good understanding of systems engineering in general as well as ARP4754 principles and their application to requirements development and traceability.
- You have experience with eliciting, capturing and analysis of requirements on complex multi-tier development programs.
- You have experience with requirements verification and validation activities.
- You have experience with requirements management (RM) tools, such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, Teamcenter etc.
- You have experience working with diverse stakeholders across the company (engineering, program management, certification, senior leadership).
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with different stakeholders internally and externally.
- You bring solid analytical and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to structure complex problems and maintain clarity across disciplines.
- You communicate technical concepts, project status and risks clearly and succinctly to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- You are passionate about innovating engineering – and aerospace technology in particular – and are motivated by long-term goals.
