About the role
As an Engineering Professional Senior in the role of aircraft system architect within the Product Integration (Research & Technology / Aircraft System Architecture Development & Integration) team, you will lead the aircraft-level systems engineering activities in the area of Flight Deck and Primary Avionics systems, from the definition and optimization of aircraft-level architecture to product integration and validation.
Your role as aircraft system architect will focus on enabling next-generation operational capabilities through innovative system design and aircraft integration solutions. You will drive the development of advanced system architectures and incorporate emerging technologies to support future Bombardier aircraft.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop the aircraft-level architecture of Flight Deck and Primary Avionics systems, and associated aircraft-level requirements that best respond to the market and program management needs.
- Lead aircraft-level systems tradeoffs resulting in the definition of the product configuration and architecture.
- Elaborate and maintain aircraft level requirements with the support of various disciplines.
- Be responsible for aircraft-level interface requirements and definition (functional, logical and physical).
- Lead aircraft-level validation and verification activities from the definition to the execution including the associated documentation.
- Lead cross-system integration activities including aircraft integration activities.
- Have responsibility for Validation and Verification summaries. Exercise technical oversight of verification and validation reports from various disciplines to ensure completeness at aircraft level.
- Support aircraft-level certification and safety activities for the field of responsibility, including the generation and review of associated artifacts.
- Technical coordination of aircraft level change management process (cross functional issues) and associated build plan (including V&V regression activities).
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics or Systems Engineering, or a related field. Formal training in Systems Engineering is an asset.
- You have more than 8 years of relevant experience in aircraft or complex-system development and certification, including systems engineering, conceptual design, architecture definition and requirements-based verification.
- You have more than 5 years of experience with functional, logical and physical architecture development and integration of flight deck, primary avionics or software-intensive aircraft systems, including aircraft-level requirements validation and verification.
- You have strong knowledge of complex systems development methodologies and aerospace development assurance standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, and DO-254. Familiarity with DO-160, DO-297, human factors, or flight crew interface certification considerations is an asset.
- You ideally have some exposure to new or emerging technologies in flight deck avionics, especially where these technologies affect certification, integration, or development assurance aspects.
- You have practical experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices and tools.
- You are effective at bringing disciplines together, clarifying responsibilities, structuring complex problems, and ensuring that aircraft-level decisions are properly documented, justified, verified, and certifiable.
- You are open-minded, curious, rigorous and methodical.
- You strive for harmonious cohesive teamwork and support knowledge sharing amongst team members.
- You possess strong analytical and systems-thinking skills to structure complex problems and maintain clarity across disciplines.
- You have solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with different stakeholders internally and externally.
- You communicate technical concepts, project status and risks clearly and succinctly to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
