What are your contributions to the team?
Integrated Structural & Installation Design
- Develop and review structural concepts, 3D models, assemblies, installation layouts, equipment arrangements, routing, supports, installation drawings, and detail drawings for assigned aircraft zones.
- Define metallic and composite parts, joints, interfaces, fastener concepts, tolerances, attachment concepts, clearances, access, and installation provisions for equipment, ducts, pipes, tubes, hoses, brackets, supports, and related hardware.
- Establish integrated structural and systems-installation solutions that balance load paths, functional requirements, safety, producibility, assembly, inspection, maintainability, installation sequence, weight, cost, and aircraft-zone constraints.
Technical Integration & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate the integrated product definition with stress, materials and processes, system functional engineering, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, interiors, safety, manufacturing, quality, maintainability, mass properties, partners, suppliers, and operations teams.
- Manage spatial integration and resolve clashes, geometric conflicts, access constraints, interface discrepancies, installation-sequence issues, and competing structural and systems requirements.
- Lead technical trade studies and design reviews, clearly communicating design intent, assumptions, constraints, decisions, risks, and open items.
Design Maturity, Compliance & Support
- Support substantiation, installation compliance, verification and validation, qualification, and certification activities by providing complete and traceable design definition and technical rationale.
- Provide integrated technical solutions for production, supplier, ground-test, flight-test, and in-service issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective design action.
- Manage engineering changes, assess cross-disciplinary impacts, and maintain configuration and product-definition data in the applicable PLM environment.
Level-specific contribution
- Lead complex, multi-zone or multi-system design activities and establish coherent structural and installation integration approaches.
- Review and approve significant technical solutions within delegated authority and lead difficult cross-disciplinary investigations.
- Mentor engineers, influence decisions without direct authority, and improve standards, methods, lessons learned, and digital practices.
How to thrive in this role?
Education & experience
- Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Typically 10-15 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience, including significant experience in aircraft structural design, systems installation, or aircraft-zone integration.
Technical knowledge
- Aircraft structural configuration, metallic and composite design principles, load paths, joints, fasteners, tolerancing, and GD&T.
- Aircraft systems installation and physical integration, including routing and installation of equipment, ducts, pipes, tubes, hoses, brackets, and supports.
- Clearance, access, maintainability, installation sequence, environmental and zone constraints, producibility, assembly, and inspection considerations.
- Engineering drawings, 3D product definition, aerospace materials and processes, design standards, certification fundamentals, and configuration control.
Tools & methods
- CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and MS Office; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
- Working knowledge of PLM, product definition, engineering change, and configuration management processes appropriate to the level.
Leadership & behavioural capabilities
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
- Collaborative approach with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Sound judgement, systems thinking, analytical problem-solving, organization, and accountability.
- Ability to coordinate priorities, reconcile competing requirements, and provide constructive technical guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and mentor others.
Languages
- Fluent in French and English (mandatory).
