As a Professional Senior, Engineering Strategy, you will help shape the future of Bombardier’s Engineering organization by developing innovative strategies to address evolving skills, talent and capacity needs.
As part of the Engineering, Product Development and Bombardier Defense, this role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who has developed beyond technical execution and is motivated by solving complex organizational and workforce challenges. You will bring deep engineering knowledge and credibility while applying strong business and financial acumen to help shaping the organization, its people and its long-term capabilities.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop long-term engineering workforce and capability strategies aligned with business objectives, program demand and future technical requirements.
- Forecast engineering skills and capacity needs over a five-year horizon and identify critical workforce gaps.
- Develop innovative solutions to address capacity and skills gaps beyond traditional recruitment, leveraging internal mobility, talent development, succession, partnerships and other workforce strategies.
- Evaluate workforce scenarios and provide data-driven recommendations to support resource, investment and organizational decisions.
- Partner with Engineering, Finance, HR and Program leaders to align workforce plans with budgets, business forecasts and project requirements.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives, build alignment across stakeholders, and translate business, financial and technical considerations into actionable workforce strategies, business cases and implementation roadmaps.
- Act as a strategic advisor to Engineering leadership on talent, capability, capacity and workforce challenges.
- Establish and continuously improve workforce planning processes, governance, analytics and tools, including AI-enabled solutions.
- Coach and mentor team members to support growth and strengthen organizational capability.
- Develop and deliver training and knowledge transfer for engineering teams, including Engineering Essentials and Fundamentals Training.
How to thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- Master’s in engineering management or business management is an asset
- 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering, aerospace or another complex technical environment, with demonstrated experience contributing to strategic initiatives, organizational capability, workforce planning or skills management
- Deep understanding of engineering organizations, technical disciplines and the skills and capabilities required to support complex engineering programs
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple functions and connect business objectives, project/program requirements, engineering considerations and workforce needs
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience working with budgets, headcount/resource planning and business priorities
- Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex situations and translate them into actionable recommendations
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts clearly to different audiences
- Experience within Bombardier and/or knowledge of BES is considered an asset
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI, and their potential impact on engineering capabilities and workforce requirements in an asset
