What are your contributions to the team?

In your role, you will be reporting to the Engineering Functional Sr. Director. The Section chief - Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is a multifaceted position within the Aircraft Design and Development department.  At Bombardier, the Electromagnetic Compatibility team is responsible to ensure the safety of our aircraft to internal and external electromagnetic threats including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Low-Intensity Radiated Fields (LIRF), Lightning, and Electrostatic Charge.  We ensure our aircraft meet all the associated regulatory requirements.  Your future team supports all Bombardier products.

 

  • Manage a multi-site team of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) engineers
  • Develop and implement strategies for the definition of future aircraft, proposing innovative and competitive solutions.
  • Develop or adapt tools and processes according to the needs of the function in order to achieve our organizational objectives.
  • Responsible of all the functional activities and reporting within the department (e.g. Knowledge Domains, Critical Skills Review, Critical Knowledge Level, conferences, etc …) and execute the yearly BMs roadmap
  • Ensure that adequate engineering resources are assigned to tasks to meet product development deadlines and project execution.
  • Set annual employee objectives, evaluate performance, establish salary and recommendations for career progression.
  • Be accountable for your group's performance - delivering on time, on budget and with quality to support company objectives.
  • Ensure a positive and healthy work environment for employees (communication, recognition, coaching and career development plans/opportunities).
  • Provide visibility on execution, problems encountered and escalate as needed to your director.
  • Manage and resolve priority conflicts within own department and with internal customers.
  • Participate in the recruitment and integration of new employees.
  • Participate in budget preparation and be responsible for the management of financial resources.
  • Review/approve technical engineering impacts related to EMC activities and ensure compliance.
  • Identify training and travel required to support business needs.
  • Support Supplier and Aircraft Testing activites
  • Ensure adequate support from the team for Production line and in service aircrafts.
  • Lead Research and Technology strategic EMC projects

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Physics, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • You have 10+ years in the aerospace industry, with a good understanding of EMC requirements  and related activities in development of platforms, production and sustaining activities.
  • You have experience in integration and a good understanding of how systems work and interact with the overall aircraft.
  • You have aircraft EMC related experience.
  • You have an interest in business aviation improvement and are a strategic thinker.
  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years of positive experience in a management position.
  • You are a team player, work in a multidisciplinary team and can demonstrate strong organizational and managerial skills (planning and prioritization)
  • You are creative in finding ways to solve problems and have the ability to bring your ideas to fruition.
  • You work in an agile and flexible manner and can juggle multiple tasks while addressing priorities.
  • You possess good oral and written skills, can effectively communicate achievements and challenges to technical as well as non-technical management. French is an asset.
  • Knowledge of aeronautical product certification is an asset.
  • You have experience in developing new products and supporting products in service (Asset)

 

Position Details:

  • Located at either Bombardier Toronto, Ontario (Pearson Airport) or Bombardier Montreal, Quebec (Dorval Airport)
  • The position is a hybrid of remote from home and on-site work.
