What are your contributions to the team?

Technical Leadership

 

  • Act as the lead stress technical expert for the review and oversight of all structure realated strategic technology projects and new programs under development.
  • Lead and coordinate the processes for solving highly complex problems
  • Support management in budget preparation by providing cost estimates and resource allocation for the stress analysis team required for program and project development.

New Programs

•    Lead and influence the multi-dimensional optimization process related to structural sizing activities.
•    Lead, validate, and approve the aircraft-level structural sizing (analysis methodology, stress path, design principles) for new M-program designs during the pre-launch phase. 
•    Lead and oversee the development of stress requirements and concepts throughout the various levels of product development conceptual phases.
•    Provide a clear roadmap for certification to the Certification Authority (DAD), including methodologies, the fatigue and life analysis (DTA) approach, testing, and/or similarity strategies.
•    Provide stress input data for the multidisciplinary MDO optimization team for M programs during the pre-launch phase. 
•    Support the evaluation of suppliers for various projects along the conceptual phases.
•    Ensure alignment between Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs) and supplier deliverables with Bombardier's engineering standards, tools, and methodologies during the conceptual phases. 

Tools & Processes

•    Lead and harmonize the development of stress analysis and sizing tools enabling Bombardier to offer best-in-class products within an industry-leading development cycle time.
•    Lead the development and documentation of internally developed tools at Bombardier related to the stress analysis knowledge area.
•    Lead and oversee the daily maintenance of tools related to the stress analysis knowledge area, ensuring continuity and succession within Bombardier.
•    Evaluate tools proposed by external suppliers and ensure they meet Bombardier's needs.
•    Define and oversee the implementation, testing, and deployment strategy of new tools from external suppliers. 

Research and Technology

•    Lead and participate in collaborative initiatives with academic partners that could benefit the Strategic Technologies department, functional (F) projects, and technology maturation (T) projects.
•    Develop and launch new R&T projects to explore new tools or improve existing ones in the stress knowledge domain.
•    Develop strategic alliances and partnerships with universities and government research organizations.
•    Participate in and influence collaborative strategic projects.
•    Conduct TRL6 reviews for the development of tools and methodologies related to the R&T project.

Knowledge Domain

•    Influence the medium- and long-term vision, strategy, and objectives of the Structures domain (ASIL, STRESS & M&P).
•    Support the identification of needs in your area of expertise.
•    Validate and approve new methodologies and processes related to the stress analysis knowledge domain.
•    Influence industry standards in your area of specialization. Attend, lead, and influence conferences and the publication of new standards or technical articles. 
•    Develop an industry-wide network of contacts.
•    Provide recommendations related to the promotion of senior engineering professionals and technical engineering experts.

Technical Competency

•    Ensure compliance with Bombardier's Engineering System (BES) practices and applicable industry standards.
•    Act as a mentor to various engineers within the area of expertise.
•    Recommend development activities for senior engineering professionals.
•    Participate in the development of future successors.
•    Stay abreast of the latest technological developments to be informed of innovations that could affect and improve our products and processes.
•    Maintain competitive intelligence on competitor technologies and product performance.
•    Prepare preliminary business plans and statements of work for various technical studies.
•    Identify and lead analytical studies.
•    Participate in multidisciplinary studies.
•    Develop work plans (plan, schedule, and resources).

How to thrive in this role?

•    You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering.
•    You have over 18 years of relevant experience in the design, justification, and certification of aircraft structures.
•    You have at least 4 years of relevant experience on an aircraft development program in the initial pre-launch phases.
•    You possess in-depth knowledge of Bombardier's aircraft structure development process, technical specifications, and stress analysis.
•    You have a thorough understanding of the processes, methods, and tools for analyzing structural constraints in preliminary design phases, development studies, and impact analysis of modifications to existing aircraft.
•    You have experience leading research projects with academic, governmental, or commercial partners.
•    You have knowledge of and experience with numerous programming languages.
•    You have experience in the technical leadership of professional engineering teams.
•    You are open-minded, curious, rigorous, and methodical.
•    You thrive in a harmonious and unified team environment. You value knowledge-sharing among team members.
•    You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You approach problem-solving with a holistic perspective.
•    You have experience and skills in developing strategies or visions for the development of tools and/or projects.
