What are your contributions to the team?
The Control Laws/Stability and Control (Claws/S&C) team is responsible for ensuring appropriate aircraft flight characteristics. Key activities include designing/developing and testing Fly-by-Wire (FBW) flight control laws for the next generation Bombardier Aircrafts. Moreover, the team contributes to the development of new or derivative aircraft (including missionized aircraft) and supports continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft. The team also actively participates in flight testing activities and closely interacts with regulatory authorities to ensure safety and compliance to airworthiness requirements.
- Assess stability and control characteristics of aircraft
- Prepare and support wind tunnel
- Plan and support flight test and simulation followed by required analyses and documentation
- Analyze and process simulation and flight test data
- Plan and conduct desktop or pilot-in-the-loop simulations to assess the aircraft handling qualities due to design and/or model changes, for certification, or problem investigations with potential improvements
- Write and review reports which demonstrate flight characteristic compliance with airworthiness regulations
- Provide support to aircraft production and in-flight qualification for aerodynamics and aircraft handling related issues and non-conformities
- Support the development and modification to flight simulation models
- Define high level aircraft design requirements (handling qualities, sensors, actuators etc.)
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering
- You must have a minimum of 12 years of pertinent experience in the field of aircraft stability and control
- The candidate has a good understanding of aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics along with a basic understanding of aeroelasticity, aircraft design, aircraft structures/systems
- The candidate familiar with airworthiness regulations is an asset
- The candidate possesses good programming skills.
- Knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating system environments, Matlab/Simulink, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint is an asset.
- The candidate has good written and oral communication skills
