Title: Manager Pneumatics and Thermodynamics

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Lead a cross platform team responsible for Air Management Systems and Thermodynamics in delivering effective and timely engineering support for resolving production & fleet issues, and product development.
  • Lead, recruit and develop a multidisciplinary experienced team of specialists and individual contributors for all these disciplines.
  • Develop a high-performance team to support rapid root cause identification of systems issues. Work with internal and external stake holders in defining and driving the implementation of design solutions. 
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to support the resolution of highly integrated, complex systems issues impacting production and service aircraft.
  • Ensure successful design, validation, verification, certification, and delivery of changes to the system and/or its components.
  • Set priorities and manage the communication and harmonization of these priorities.
  • Develop good working relationships with various departments within BA and with all Suppliers.
  • Create/enable a positive and collaborative team environment and take concrete steps/actions to keep high level of engagement within the team.
  • Complete performance reviews, identify performance gaps and create effective team development, mentoring and coaching.
  • Define, oversee, and manage team budgets for multiple platforms and programs.
  • Using the AES system, establish master plans, develop metrics and institute team governance to provide accurate and relevant reporting of team performance.  
  • Support the development and growth of the knowledge domains and Bombardier’s presence at industry working groups and with other OEMs.
  • Attend and present at management meetings; communicate information to employees in a timely manner. 
  • Create and nurture transparent, authentic, and effective communication within the organization through collaborative leadership.
  • Lead on-going platform projects to ensure a seamless execution per agreed program milestone commitments.
  • Support Marketing and Customer Support requests/proposals 
     

How to thrive in this role?

  • You hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, and have at least 15 years’ experience one or more of the disciplines stated for the role.
  • You have relevant experience and technical expertise and possess a good understanding of all facets of systems definition, design, development, integration, safety, and certification processes.
  • You possess knowledge Environmental Controls System, Pressurization and Oxygen Systems, integration and design, Software/Hardware certification (DO-160, DO-178, etc..), and Thermodynamics 
  • You are familiar with Part 25 certification requirements and advisory material. 
  • Possesses strong integration skills, in both system partner management and system technical integration. 
  • You have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • You are a team player, promoting a collaborative approach to achieve the company’s objectives, 
  • You must have good written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
  • You have strong communication skills, ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • You are a dynamic person with initiative, a strong sense of responsibility and good judgment.
  • You are autonomous, organized, a team player, a self-motivated person, Customer focused, and able to work under pressure. 
  • You must also show initiative, innovation, leadership, a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, adaptability, have good interpersonal communication skills, have a good engineering judgement, and drive for results
