In this role, you will lead the PDA Program Management Office and a team of project management professionals to govern and accelerate a portfolio of cross-functional initiatives aimed at reducing product development cycle time and cost. You will also help identify and promote the adoption of emerging technologies, digital capabilities and modern product development practices as key enablers to improve how Bombardier develops new aircraft.
What are your contributions to the team?
• Lead and develop a team of project managers and specialists responsible for the execution and governance of the Product Development Acceleration program.
• Ensure the PDA program and its initiatives remain aligned with Bombardier's strategic objectives, including reducing new product development cycle time and development cost.
• Own the PDA portfolio governance and decision framework, from idea intake and feasibility assessment through business case development, pilot, deployment, performance monitoring and institutionalization.
• Establish and maintain the integrated program plan, including Tier 0 and Tier 1 schedules, milestones, dependencies, critical-path impacts and executive reporting.
• Manage the overall PDA budget and oversee project delivery and budget performance across the program streams.
• Implement consistent project and program management practices, performance indicators, dashboards and reporting standards across PDA initiatives.
• Lead continuous risk and opportunity management, ensuring proactive mitigation, escalation and contingency planning.
• Prepare and lead the PDA governance cadence, including project/program reviews, idea triage and gate reviews and Steering Committee reviews.
• Build a strong, inclusive and accountable team; coach employees, develop capabilities and support professional growth.
• Monitor benefits realization, including schedule, critical-path, cost and productivity improvements, and communicate progress and decisions to senior leadership.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Programs, Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, Operations and other stakeholders to resolve roadblocks and enable execution.
• Support and guide initiative leaders in developing execution plans, business cases, resource plans, benefit assessments and deployment strategies.
• Develop and maintain awareness of emerging technologies and modern product development practices, including artificial intelligence, digital engineering, systems engineering, automation and product lifecycle management, and assess how they can support PDA objectives.
• Advise and support process owners and initiative leaders in identifying, evaluating and integrating technology-enabled improvements into product development processes, from concept definition through deployment and benefits realization.
• Partner with Engineering, Information Technology, Methods, Programs and other stakeholders to translate technology opportunities into actionable initiatives, pilots, business cases and deployment roadmaps.
How to thrive in this role?
• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent field; a graduate degree is an asset.
• You have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in program or project management, engineering, product development or business transformation, including demonstrated accountability for complex program execution.
• You have experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organization.
• You possess strong program and portfolio management capabilities, including governance, schedule, budget, risk, resource and benefits management.
• You understand aircraft product development processes and can connect technical initiatives to business, cost and schedule outcomes.
• You can develop clear business cases, performance indicators and executive-level recommendations using data and sound judgment.
• You build strong relationships and credibility with senior leaders, technical experts and cross-functional stakeholders, and can influence without direct authority.
• You communicate clearly in writing and verbally, can synthesize complex information, and are comfortable presenting to executive governance forums.
• You demonstrate initiative, sound prioritization and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
• You have knowledge of, or a strong interest in, emerging technologies and modern product development practices such as digital engineering, systems engineering, artificial intelligence, automation, product lifecycle management and aerospace transformation programs.
• You can work with technical experts and process owners to understand technology opportunities, assess their business relevance, and translate them into practical improvement initiatives.
