We are currently looking to recruit a Product Development Engineer (m/w) in Mannheim

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Product Development Manager (PDM) has direct responsibility for ensuring that the delivery of the specific product development (project) is clearly translated into a set of cross functional activities and work packages, that are then delivered in accordance with the required quality, time and cost parameters (QTC).

The principle objective is to deliver the specific product development by maximising reuse across the Product Family. The scope of the role extends across the full product developments life cycle from design through to freeze, testing, authorisation/homologation through to serial production, multi functionally including, engineering, procurement and methods. This role is critical to the successful performance and profitable growth of the Product Family (i.e. TRAXX locomotives).

Your Tasks

- The clear articulation of work activities in to work packages for multiple phases (through the life cycle from design through to serial production), whilst ensuring associated activity remains in accordance with the PF road map

- Rigorous QTC focus on all associated activities for the specific product development

- The creation and management of a multi-functional resource requirements plan, ensuring availability of all skills as required in the various phases (Incorporating robust planning and dynamic resource management)

- Operating with a continuous improvement ethos, driving optimisation of reuse alongside rigorously identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities in line with the PF roadmap

- Working with the PDM and PFPDM community to develop and implement a standardised way of working for PDMs within the company (Tools, processes & methods)

Qualifications

- Engineering Degree (Economic Engineering or other)

- Relevant experience within the railway industry or other electrical drive systems

- Experience in technical project management/ coordination, including indirect leadership

- Project planning and documentation experience and financial understanding

- Experience in an international matrix organization

- Excellent communication and influencing skills

- Firm grasp of IT tools, such as MS Office suite

- Very good English language skills, ideally German language skills (both written and verbal)
