What are your contributions to the team?

  • Advise Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs), Leaders, Managers, and the Senior Leadership Team on complex and multi-faceted labour relations matters
  • Provide expert advice and counsel on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement, corporate policies, relevant legislation, and case law.
  • In coordination with the LR Intern, manage and lead the OT equalization process including ensuring minimization of liability and leading EOY reconciliation.
  • Provide advice and counsel on matters related to discipline up to and including termination, human rights, harassment, discrimination, and workplace violence.
  • As required, develop training for leaders on various issues related to the administration of the collective agreement such as overtime and discipline.
  • Responsible for assisting the Manager, LR and Director, HR in collective bargaining in the aerospace manufacturing sector with UNIFOR, Local 112 and Local 673
  • Collaborate with management regarding communication of departmental objectives and development, and implementation of labour relations initiatives.
  • Attend various union committees with the management team including but not limited to the joint labour management committee or the joint training committee.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments related to labour relations such as implementing a grievance management system or developing various leadership tools.
  • In coordination with the LR Intern, responsible for ensuring grievance files contain required documentation and the grievance tracker has up to date information.
  • As required, conduct complex internal investigations in an aerospace manufacturing environment that are thorough, complete, objective, and defensible.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the health centre on complex return to work and duty to accommodate cases and assist in managing issues through to arbitration.
  • Participate and lead grievance hearings and prepare grievance replies and prepare for and attend mediation and/or arbitration, as required.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have at least five (5) years experience in labour relations and/or human resources preferably in a senior role with complex responsibilities.
  • You possess a bachelor’s degree in labour relations, industrial relations, law, legal studies, human rights, and/or human resources management, or equivalent.
  • You have proven and demonstrated experience leading a labour relations portfolio in a complex unionized environment preferably with multiple unions.
  • You have demonstrated technology skills including ability to use Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel) and have experience with SAP and other HR related software.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as strong mediation and deescalation skills to manage difficult conversations.
  • You have demonstrated experience in collective bargaining including conducting research, preparing mandates, and preparing and/or costing proposals.
  • You have strong communication, problem solving, and leadership skills necessary to effectively work across all functions and with our union representatives.
  • You are able to influence decision making and persuade leaders, managers, and the senior leadership team on the suitable course of action for complex matters such as discipline, accommodations, grievance settlements, and/or arbitration.
  • You are a team player, change agent, project manager and you can manage several demanding clients simultaneously while meeting key performance targets.
  • You have a strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
  • You are highly organized and can translate data into actionable insights, strategies and sound HR business related decisions.
  • You are a strategic thinker and good listener who works well under pressure and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines.
  • You have the skills to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial, stressful and/or confrontational situations and able to coach others to do the same.
  • Due to the nature of aerospace manufacturing, the role requires an in person presence.

The base salary for this position is expected to range from CAD $XX,XXX to CAD $XX,XXX per year. The applicable base salary will be determined based on various criteria, at Bombardier’s sole discretion, such as the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications.

 

In some cases, the base salary offered may differ from the expected range of base salary listed above.​
