What are your contributions to the team?
- Lead and supervise tooling fabrication and maintenance activities (jigs, fixtures, and precision tooling) in support of production requirements.
- Plan and prioritize daily and long-term workload aligned with production schedules and critical path needs.
- Ensure tooling is delivered on time, validated to specification, and ready for use in manufacturing operations.
- Provide technical tooling and metrology support including laser tracking, alignment, and production line recovery.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to resolve complex tooling and dimensional issues impacting production.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100), engineering requirements, and safety regulations.
- Maintain tooling configuration control, traceability, and documentation.
- Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve tooling reliability and lifecycle performance.
- Implement root cause corrective actions / Problem Solving for tooling-related issues.
- Manage tooling resources including scheduling, capacity planning, and material procurement.
- Coordinate external vendors and contractors, ensuring delivery, quality, and technical compliance.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment (5S standards).
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of skilled trades employees in a unionized environment.
- Apply and administer the collective agreement fairly and consistently in partnership with union representatives.
- Drive employee engagement, accountability, and continuous skill development.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold an Ontario Tool & Die License or a College diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- You have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in tooling, fabrication, or precision manufacturing (aerospace preferred).
- You have a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- You have strong technical expertise in tooling fabrication, maintenance, and metrology techniques.
- You demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills in resolving complex technical challenges.
- You are familiar with aerospace quality standards and tooling control practices (e.g., AS9100, configuration management).
- You have experience supporting production environments with tight tolerances and high quality requirements.
- You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and can effectively influence cross-functional teams.
- You are results-oriented, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The base salary for this position is expected to range from CAD $100,000 to CAD $130,000 per year. The applicable base salary will be determined based on various criteria, at Bombardier’s sole discretion, such as the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications.
In some cases, the base salary offered may differ from the expected range of base salary listed above.
