About the role
Bombardier is a global manufacturing leader in business jets. Our products and services deliver world-class transportation experiences, setting new standards in passenger comfort, energy efficiency, reliability, and safety. We are a global organization that thrives on collaboration and team spirit.
In this role, you will develop and optimize advanced CFD software for aircraft design applications. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team (aerodynamics, structures, loads & dynamics, thermodynamics), you will help improve high-fidelity solver capabilities, scalable numerical methods, and reduced-order modelling workflows for next-generation aircraft development. This posting is for a temporary employee working on a full-time basis.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop and optimize CFD solvers for complex aircraft configurations.
- Implement numerical methods for the Navier-Stokes equations, including discretization, time integration, turbulence modelling, and solver acceleration.
- Support high-order CFD methods for scale-resolving aerodynamic simulations.
- Develop Reduced-Order Models for aeroelasticity, optimization, flight-control studies, and digital-twin applications.
- Scale scientific codes on HPC platforms using MPI, OpenMP, and parallel programming best practices.
- Maintain software quality through CI/CD, regression testing, benchmarking, code reviews, and documentation.
- Validate CFD tools against wind-tunnel, flight-test, and reference data.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- You have a strong background in CFD, compressible aerodynamics, Navier-Stokes solvers, and turbulence modelling.
- You have experience developing scientific software in C++ and Python.
- You have practical experience with Linux, HPC environments, MPI, and OpenMP.
- You have knowledge of ROM techniques such as PCA, POD, PROM, and projection-based modelling.
- You are familiar with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, benchmarking, and peer code reviews.
- You are eligible to work with controlled aerospace data, including CGD and/or ITAR-restricted programmes.
- You are fluent in both English and French.
Desired Assets
- You have experience with DG, Spectral Element, Flux Reconstruction, CPR, or other high-order CFD methods.
- You have experience with GPU acceleration using CUDA, HIP, Kokkos, or similar technologies.
- You have exposure to aeroelasticity, FSI, flight controls, optimization, or aircraft digital twins.
- You have experience validating CFD simulations using wind-tunnel or flight-test data.
Now that you can see yourself in this role, apply and join the Bombardier Team!
Please note: You don’t need all the skills, knowledge, and experience listed to apply for this position. We’re not looking for the perfect candidate, we’re looking for great talent and passionate individuals.
