What are your contributions to the team?
- Join the Experimental Engineering team responsible for the development, fabrication, and validation of wind tunnel models supporting Bombardier aircraft development programs.
- Design and develop wind tunnel models that meet the requirements of aerodynamic test programs in Stability & Control (Low-Speed), Takeoff and Landing Performance (High-Lift), and High-Speed testing.
- Integrate specialized instrumentation systems, including internal balances, pressure sensors, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems.
- Perform preliminary structural analyses to ensure the mechanical integrity and dimensional accuracy of models subjected to significant aerodynamic loads.
- In addition to wind tunnel model design activities, design mechanical installations for experimental systems, including flight test aircraft, structural test rigs, and systems test benches, supporting aircraft development, in-service support, and Defense programs.
- Interpret customer technical requirements and develop robust engineering solutions that meet design objectives while optimizing cost, schedule, and performance.
- Ensure successful project execution through close collaboration with the Experimental Workshop, while actively supporting fabrication, assembly, and installation activities.
How to thrive in this role?
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in wind tunnel model design, including direct participation in Stability & Control, Takeoff and Landing Performance (High-Lift), and High-Speed wind tunnel test campaigns.
- Eligibility to obtain access under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
- Strong proficiency with CATIA V5 and/or Siemens NX for complex mechanical design, 3D modeling, and technical documentation.
- Solid knowledge of aerodynamic principles as applied to wind tunnel testing.
- Excellent understanding of wind tunnel instrumentation, including internal aerodynamic balances, pressure sensors, strain gauges, data acquisition systems, and specialized instrumentation used during wind tunnel test campaigns.
- Strong knowledge of structures, materials, and standard components used in the aerospace and industrial sectors; experience designing machined parts, welded assemblies, and sheet metal components, as well as knowledge of instrumentation systems.
