What are your contributions to the team?

  • Lead failure analysis investigations for aircraft parts as a part of the Materials & Processes Laboratory.
  • Manage findings (reports and presentations with explanations, graphs, sketches, diagrams, etc.) and provide technical support and recommendations to clients and management.
  • Be active involved in multi disciplinary laboratory testing (chemistry, composites, metallic & non-metallic materials, paints and corrosion).
  • Provide laboratory services/expertise to different parts of the organization: Engineering, Operations and In-Service/Customer Support.
  • As a specialist, represent M&P engineering laboratory, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Bombardier Operational Excellence principles to maintain safety, customer service, quality, and environmental practices.
  • Work with a team mentality, collaborating with other laboratory disciplines and other specialists and departments to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Provide an amazing customer experience to the laboratory clients and be result driven.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a “hands-on” aerospace/military environment.
  • You have experience in Materials & Processes Engineering.
  • You have laboratory skills to prepare, examine, photograph and analyze metallic and non-metallic components and assemblies.
  • You have experience operating optical microscopes, imaging and energy-dispersive X- ray spectrometry (Scanning Electron Microscope). 
  • You have a good understanding in the metallics, composites, surface treatments, polymers, coatings, and protective finishes fields.
  • You have general knowledge to perform failure investigations for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • You have a practical balance of analytical, problem solving, communication and reasoning skills.
  • You show initiative, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility in a customer service context.
  • You are excited to work in a team environment and communicate/interact daily with clients, technical experts, technologists and interns, external suppliers, management, etc.
  • You have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) would be an asset).
  • You are familiar with typical military and/or aerospace industry standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO, MIL, FAR, and SAE)
  • You can work with minimal supervision with an ability to prioritize multiple assignments efficiently and simultaneously.
  • You are pro-active, results oriented and innovative, with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) and French (oral).
