Bombardier Flight Operations has an immediate opening in its Toronto Flight Operations / Flight Test Engineering Department for a Flight Test Engineer [Sr. Engineering Specialist]. As Flight Test Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, reporting and performing Production Flight Test Engineering operations on the Global 5500/6500 and G7500 aircraft for the purpose of research, development and certification.

In your role, you will;

- Perform regular Flight Duties as Flight Test Engineer on Production Aircraft.

- Be responsible for the test planning, test readiness, safety of flight and test operations of Production and Experimental Aircraft.
- Operate under the day-to-day authority/supervision of the Manager of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot.
- As a Senior Engineering Specialist you will work with the Flight Test Engineering Team to support aircraft operational information critical to tests being performed (i.e. test limitations, Restrictions and/or Special Instructions (RSI’s) and test procedures or direction).
- Be assigned responsibility for vetting and approving Non-Conformity Reports (NCR’s) and RSI’s.
- Communicate with System Engineering, Methods Engineers, Flight Sciences and Pre-Flight on the planning, status and results of the tests performed on an aircraft in a hangar, ground and/or in flight.
- Create test documentation and reporting consistent with approved Bombardier Flight Test Center standards.
- Oversee and confirm aircraft configuration is appropriate and/or applicable for test (i.e. component level, test instrumentation, etc).
- Coordinate, chair and facilitate the following reviews/briefing: Test Readiness; SOF (Safety Of Flight) and THA (Test Hazard Analysis); and Pre- and Post-flight briefings.
- Prepare/write Test Cards/Plans based on TDS (Test Definition Sheets)
- Observe (i) company, FAA and Transport Canada rules and regulations for test, (ii) proper use of safety and risk mitigation methods, and (iii) test equipment operating procedures
- Work closely with the Bombardier Flight Test Center – Wichita, Global Completion Center (GCC) – Montreal and other 3rd party Completion Centers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

- You must a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (P. Eng)

- You have ten (10+) years of experience in Aerospace Engineering including Flight Test Engineering
- You have a Masters in Engineering/Aviation and/or a Test Pilot School graduate
- You have an understanding of Civil/Commercial aircraft certification Part 25 requirements
- You have an understanding of aircraft systems and their operation.
- You have an ability to interpret aircraft system schematics.
- You have a Private or Commercial Pilots Licence
- You have excellent working knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project & Access).
- You are self-motivated and exhibit good communication, planning and organizational skills.
- You are able to travel to remote locations to test for short (e.g. 1 week) and extended (e.g. several weeks) periods of time with a valid Passport.
- You have good problem solving skills.
