Senior Bid Manager


We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Bid Manager in our location in Vado Ligure.

Purpose of the job

You will support the Head of Sales and Delivery Bids Italy in the assessment, management, and preparation of high-class bids in Italy with focus on for the Services business. You will need to be a highly motivated Bid Manager that fits into the environment, contributes to Sales targets while providing full protection of BTs interests and governance role throughout the Bid Approval Process.

You will be responsible for supporting the growth of Services activities for all product lines: Parts Business, Component Repairs, Asset Life Management and Fleet Management towards all Italian customers.

You will be responsible for coordination of Bid strategy to enable the internal and external bid process and therefore maximize profitability and revenue to grow the business and you will lead the team of Bid Managers dedicated to Services in Italy.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Leadership: ability to lead activities towards peer functions to harmonize the bid approach (Sales, ENG, PROC, PI, Operations…).

• Calculation: good financial background, high sensibility with numbers (ex. gross margin, EBIT, cash flows, hedging, currency exchange rates etc.). Responsibility includes calculating sales price within Bombardier's pricing template (2.1) following the committed input from different functions and independently undergoing reviews with Bid Approval in this regard. Good knowledge of Excel is crucial. Secure compliance of the project with sourcing strategy

• Product Knowledge: a good common technical understanding. Needs to understand new technical concepts in complex innovative systems in addition to a good understanding of maintenance processes and costs evaluation. Ability to transfer customer needs and expectations into a successful bidding concept and carry out a respective reliable as well as competitive pricing. • Documentation: lead the on-time preparation of clear-cut, high quality documents for internal bid approval decisions as well as for external tender/offer documents.

• Bid Process Owner: implementation of standardized bid processes and tools, flawless coordination of bid reviews cycle with Bid Approval to provide for a transparent, educated, and informed business decision process with SER Management and Bid Governance Organization.


• Very solid financial background is key due to high responsibility for bid calculation. Good understanding of complex bidding and/or partner structures.

• Good technical understanding to easily work/move within a highly innovative and constantly changing technical environment. Constant and comprehensive exchange with Engineering function is required daily.

• Familiarity with Excel (2.1 template) is a must.

• A Bid Manager shall be able to understand the business reality and the financial requirements. He/she shall provide the necessary skills to work out competitive solutions for complex bidding scenarios with ambitious customer demands.

• Ability to lead and instruct without formal authority. Workforce capacity planning of other functions and cross-functional coordination (e.g., production rate to be adjusted, schedule changes/harmonization etc). Outstanding organisational and true multitasking skills for planning and solution finding on day to day bid activities.

• Excellent problem solving and analytic skills. Need to be able to think and work independently.

• Ability to maximize profitability and revenue to grow service business in strict cooperation with Sales department.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills (see above under Leadership) with the need to remain structured and positive in a demanding environment.

• Good cross-functional team leader in international set-up with a high level of ownership.

• Ability to lead a small team of direct reports and to coach/train them for a successful team performance.

• High reliability and dedication to meet short and short notice deadlines.

• High flexibility.

• Ability to conceptually work out, write and manage the on-time preparation of clear-cut, high quality documents for internal bid approval decisions as well as for external tender/offer documents.
