Overall

The Defense/ BFTC organization is responsible for the Engineering Design & Support/ Modification/ Test of Defense Projects. BFTC also is responsible for testing and modifying of existing products in service for Bombardier's entire range of business jets. What are your contributions to the team?

  • Adhere to General Work Requirements
  • Prepare and monitor budget(s) for assigned business unit(s), for example, analyze expenses/spend, develop budgets in support of labor, overhead, capital, headcount, sales, and inter-company transactions, monitor actual versus budget variances on a monthly basis, and analyze trends
  • Perform costing for each unit of production, maintenance, and completion of aircraft, for example, analyze dollars and hours for labor, material, and overhead, research variance analysis, and benchmark costs to trends
  • Collect and enter data representing financial assumptions into simulation model(s) after reviewing for reasonableness, consistency, and errors
  • Complete monthly management report reviews including maintenance of schedules and databases
  • Review, reconcile, and verify accuracy of system values for work-in-process and finished goods to sub-ledger detail through variance analysis
  • Analyze, budget, and forecast all transactions related to aircraft contracts
  • Forward fair market value data to marketing and contracts
  • Perform advanced account analysis, for example, bank reconciliation for major accounts, accrued liabilities, aircraft provisions, inventory, and advances  
  • Perform initial review of all account reconciliation
  • Perform asset and liability account reconciliation
  • Prepare daily and weekly available cash balance (i.e., forecast) to send to Corporate treasury
  • Perform all capital asset related tracking, accounting, and financial reporting schedules
  • Perform account reconciliation for fixed assets, other assets, inventory, liability, and equity
  • Analyze, reconcile, and prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other formal financial reports on a scheduled basis
  • Analyze trends, costs, revenues, and expenses to predict future revenues and expenses to support monthly forecasts
  • Complete monthly financial and/or financial reporting narratives, schedules, and budgets including ad hoc reports
  • Complete quarterly financial reporting contingencies and guarantees
  • Make recommendations for financial and/or financial reporting system structure changes as necessary

How to thrive in this role?

  • Typically a minimum of 2 years accounting or financial analyst experience
  • Presentation skills necessary for informal settings, for example, department management
  • Analytical and judgment skills necessary to evaluate alternatives and formulate recommendations in support of management decision-making
  • Working knowledge of U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Working knowledge of accounting procedures and concepts, for example, general ledger, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems, data warehousing, and other programs as required
  • Basic knowledge of database concepts including relational database principles
  • Working knowledge of finance procedures and concepts, including net present value and IRR, accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Working knowledge of Company accounting policies

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Basic knowledge of process improvement methodology and application (e.g., Six Sigma) preferred
