What are your contributions to the team?
- Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements
- Considered as the “go to” person in payroll for HRBPs and all levels of employees within the organization
- Oversee the compilation of annual taxes and year-end process, including but not limited to W-2 corrections for the prior year
- Oversee the quarterly audit process and validate completion of all adjustments
- Work with Global mobility team members for global payroll issues relating to assignees and frequent business travelers assignment conditions, and US tax reporting
- Analyze and apply various overtime rules, holiday pay, and work schedules for various business functional units
- Responsible for overseeing garnishment processing of child support, tax levies, student loans and consumer orders
- Oversee the various day-to-day U.S. Bombardier payroll functions for all 3 company codes, to include the tax and garnishment function as well
- Assist with input of team for annual reviews
- Responsible for team and morale-building objectives within the payroll department
- Assist with developing team members in a cross-functional setting regarding workload and distribution
- Responsible for troubleshooting the bi-weekly payroll process through validating and balancing the various payroll audit reports
- Incorporating new processes and procedures regarding the global payroll processes, including but not limited to, corporate transfers and shadow payroll for employees on assignment
- Responsible for annual payroll tax cycle and coordination with third party vendors (i.e., Deloitte & Price Water House Coopers), ADP tax services, and global mobility team
- Coordinate with IT department regarding system upgrades and testing
- Analyze and assist employees and the business in solving complex payroll questions and inquiries
- Assist the Compensation team
How to thrive in this role?
- Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Typically, a minimum of 10+ years professional and progressive payroll experience in related field
- Working knowledge of multi-payroll system integration
- Working knowledge of company policies and procedures affecting payroll
- Working knowledge of payroll concepts, practices and procedures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, a high volume of requests and tasks, while meeting requirements and deadlines.
- Exposure to multi-state taxes and local tax fillings and garnishments
- Project planning and interpersonal skills necessary to work with co-workers, other departments and government agencies
- Communication skills necessary to effectively train, update, persuade, and/or facilitate discussions with all levels of management (i.e., supervisor training)
- Computer skills necessary to operate MS Office, web-based applications and various HRIS systems
- Ability to resolve complex issues, requiring “outside of the box” thinking
- Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
- Conflict resolution skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management
- Thorough knowledge of multi-state payroll tax filing process
- Previous experience with tax withholding calculations and processes
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate complex payroll issues
- Ability to think “big picture” and consider impacts to the company across all business functional units
- Basic leadership skills
Additional Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge in payroll taxes filings, garnishments and annual/quarterly U.S. tax filings
- Strong leadership skills
- Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP)
- Previous experience leading payroll system implementation
