In your role, you will

  • Manage a team responsible for the development of structural analysis using classical hand analysis methods and finite element analysis on metallic and non-metallic structure. 
  • Understand customer requirements to correlate them into a planning schedule for preparation of formal and controlled engineering documentation (i.e., structural analysis reports, specifications, etc.). Produce measures to ensure adherence to work plan. 
  • Prepares and presents design review material in support of technical interchange meetings and design reviews with suppliers and external/internal customers. 
  • Review and approve stress notes and reports from stress team members of structural designs for sizing of structural reinforcements and load path definition for structural modifications.
  • Lead stress process from preliminary/conceptual design through critical/detail design. 
  • Lead development of structural substantiation reports that meet technical requirements for the program and certifying authority (FAA/EASA/MIL cert). 
  • Review and approve assessments of primary structure, secondary structure, and flight test installations from a static strength perspective. Including fatigue and damage tolerance assessments based on customer’s mission profile requirements. 
  • Manage a team of engineers to compliance within schedule commitments.
  • Lead the stress organization in resource management including recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new employees. Ensure adequate engineering resources and lead their allocation to tasks in accordance with a weekly priority list. 
  • Establish organization objectives, evaluate performance, and make salary and career progression recommendations.
  • Continually work toward a positive and healthy working environment for the employees (communication, recognition, coaching, and a vision for organizational progress). 
  • Manage and resolve priority conflicts within own department. 
  • Be accountable for your group’s performance – deliver on-time, within budget and with first time right quality to support the business objectives. 
  • Drive organization governance to ensure adherence to schedule, performance to budget, and engineering partner delivery to commitments. 
  • Oversee technical viability of design solutions from a stress discipline perspective of new modifications through design reviews and deliverable approvals. 
  • Identify process improvements and follow through to deployment and training. 
  • Identify functional training required to support the business needs. 
  • Develop or adapt tools and processes as needed by the engineering functions to meet organizational objectives. 
  • Champion partner management through establish weekly technical oversight meetings to meet program commitments.

As our ideal candidate

  • You hold a Bachelor of Science from an accredited University.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years with preference for 15 years’ experience in stress analysis. 
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading direct reports. 
  • You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical supplier management. 
  • Per US ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) Requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).
  • You must have proficiency in FEM tools (i.e. Patran and Nastran).
  • You must have proficiency in CATIA V5 or later version.
  • You must have a good understanding of aircraft structural load path and have experience with analysis methodologies for various primary and secondary structural components.
  • You must have experience in developing and obtaining approval of Stress Reports.
  • You have a working knowledge of stress applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA). 
  • You are proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • You must be a creative problem-solver. 
  • You must be a self-starter, able to organize mandates/objectives into work assignments for the organization to own a list of prioritized tasks through to completion. 
  • You must exhibit excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • You must be able and comfortable with managing up and down the organization. 
  • You should be an organized leader and individual able to work effectively with a variety of cross-functional individuals, departments and organizations with a positive attitude and disposition.
